Abstract: There is a new movement afoot proposing that the federal government establish an AI-testbed operation. The idea is that any federally procured or built AI system would need to first undergo an assessment via the AI-testbed operation. This would aim to curtail the chances of such AI imbuing untoward biases and inequities. Various salient details need to be worked out.
